I’m Arafath Hossain, a data scientist who leads with questions.
What I’ve worked on
I’ve built churn and retention models, recommendation systems, outlier detection and other data science work, and led teams that turned them into enterprise solutions, across retail and higher education.
What I enjoy most is the start: understanding a problem well enough that the right solution becomes obvious, and then proving it works before anyone commits to building it at scale.
Four habits I bring to every project
Start with the question
Most data projects go wrong before any modelling starts. I spend the first stretch understanding who decides what, and break the problem down until the real question is clear.
Prove it on real data
I build proofs of concept myself, on real data, and validate them honestly. A clear no-go early is a good outcome too.
AI, used with judgment
I use AI where it genuinely speeds the work, and check everything it produces before a decision rests on it.
Light-touch leadership
I work best with self-driven people. I give them room, keep the goal sharp, and step in to unblock rather than micromanage.
